Dobson

Sick Kitty

Dobson was acting a little strange yesterday and although he looked CRAZY CUTE sleeping on his back, there was a sense that not all was well. He LOOKED cozy yet, he appeared completely knocked out and exhausted. Maybe he sleeps like this when the humans aren’t around, but in 7 months, this is the first time he’s been seen sleeping on his back.

Finally, later in the evening, he went outside and threw up a hairball, and then his dinner, which is even more reason for him to stay hydrated. Plus, in the summer months (hell, anytime) cats need to drink water. He has been drinking, but it’s suspected that it’s never enough. Is he getting enough outside? No way to know.

So that’s it. He’s staying inside for the day for observation. He got a nice breakfast of his favorite wet food and we’re making sure it stays down. The other thing to check while he’s inside is that his poo is solid. Since he’s been going outdoors, we can’t confirm the “quality” of his bowel movements.

Ok! Enough! He’s still awesome and seems to be in a better mood today (he slept a solid 7 hours).

You need to drink! And as much as you do drink, it’s never enough.

Just look at this. The cuteness may be completely off the charts, but don’t be fooled:  He’s completely under the weather.

  1. My cats sometimes sleep on their backs. It’s pretty cute really.

I think cats sometimes do act funny when they are dealing with hairballs. Maybe he will be back to his perky self now.

  2. I’m sending purrs your way, Dobson! Sometimes I feel icky when I get hairballs and I’m a little “off” for a day or so, but I always bounce back pretty quickly. I hope it’s the same for you!

  3. Hairballs happen. Try just less than a teaspoon of veggie or olive oil in his food - may help.

Oh, and cats usually sleep while you’re awake - and vice versa.
