Outdoor Cats

It’s Not What You Think

Even though it totally looked like it!

Ok, let me explain. About a month ago, I was preparing to leave for Sweden. Naturally, Dobson needed to be cat sat and Mimi and Le Gros were prime candidates.

Anyway, I got to their house early, so I parked outside while Dobson waited in the car in his travel cage (windows rolled down of course!). While I’m hanging out on the sidewalk, I see this little furball in someone’s front yard, and he’s looking at me. So I think, like any normal cat obsessed person would think: “you’re going to be on WhiskerPatrol.com, yes you are!”

So I whip out my trusty Nexus S and snap a few shots. Didn’t come out so great in the sun, but hey maybe I’ll post-process them.

The next thing you know, there’s this guy looking at me out the front window. Stern expression on his face as he holds back the curtains. Suddenly, he’s at the door yelling at his kid to get the cat. Get the cat inside. GET HIM INSIDE NOW.

At first I didn’t get it, but then it hit me, and as it started to sink in, my brain went, OMG NO I AM NOT HERE TO STEAL YOUR CAT! YOU GOT ME ALL WRONG!  I just like cats!

Way to make me feel like the neighbourhood cat napper.

Then as I took the cat caddy out of the back seat I realized how it all must look. Random guy, taking pictures of your cat. Happens to have a cat caddy in his car. Like an alternate reality episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I don’t think the cat really cared one way or the other.

  1. Well that is funny in a weird way! We just never know what others are thinking.

  2. Some humans are really strange! Although sometimes my human worries that someone would want to catnap me! Which would be impossible because Binga would be getting in the way asking to be stolen instead!

I can see why the man in the window yelled to his kids to get their cat inside = Random guy, taking pictures of your cat. Happens to have a cat caddy in his car.
